On February 25, 2012, Katie and I were thrown a Hollywood themed wedding shower by my Aunt Cathy O’Meara, Mom, and dear family friend Mary Rigney. The shower was hosted at the Rigney family home in Eagan, Minnesota.
It came as no surprise that anyone attending got into character. Upon arrival our guests were interviewed on the red carpet, complete with paparazzi.
In lieu of gifts, we requested our guests make a donation to Friends of Chimbote. After visiting Chimbote in 2007 and seeing first hand the poverty and need, Friends of Chimbote is dear to our hearts. Many of the guests had also been to Chimbote and the Moynihan/O’Meara family has a long history of supporting Friends of Chimbote.
After viewing the DVD, my mother offered a wonderful description of Friends of Chimbote and the services they provide. Our guests opened their hearts and pocketbooks, raising over $2,100.
Sometimes people need a reminder of what is needed in this world and how much a donation of any amount can change lives.
